Kachenga Bush Camp, located deep within the Nkhotakota Game reserve, is perfectly intergrated in the rugged landscape. With views over this portion of the reserve and Kasukusuku hill, it allows our guests the luxury of watching the beautiful sunset on the horizon, from anywhere within the camp.
Every dedicated astronomer is first and foremost a stargazer. At night, the clear sky is dotted with thousands of stars, offering stargazing guests the perfect spot to find interesting observations of the constellations.
At Kachenga Bush Camp, we cater for a variety of accommodation options. If you are looking at Self-catering, or a camping facility in a quiet, remote and untouched nature, Kachenga Bush Camp will be the place to visit. Although we currently do not have a restaurant on the premises, our kiosk does stock the basics.
The camp has three self-catering, serviced, chalets which have 2 rooms each. It sleeps a maximum of 4 guests and are totally self-contained. Each chalet has one bedroom with a double bed, another with twin beds and a separate bathroom with a rain shower. The dining room and lounge lead to a fully equipped kitchen, with a solar powered fridge and gas cooker. Guests will be required to bring their own food, but we supply crockery, cutlery pots, pans and serving bowls. For our guests’ convenience, the chalets are cleaned every morning. The 3 self-catering units can sleep a maximum of 11 guests in total.
For those who enjoy camping, the Bush Camp offers two options:
- 4 x special designated and enclosed camp site with water and power source
- 11 x open camp site.
The ablutions cater for both open and closed camps, offers hot showers and toilets as well as hot water in the laundry and wash-up area.
Campers will agree, that nothing beats a barbeque whilst watching the sun set, so we built open barbeque stands with a large fire pit, where guests can enjoy preparing their meals and sit around chatting whilst enjoying the warmth of the fire. No cooking utensils or equipment are supplied for the Camping facility.
The Kachenga Bush Camp is a secluded camp, offering a great opportunity for a family retreat, anniversary celebrations, group activities, bird watching groups, hiking groups and team building. It is also an impeccable place to be for recuperative and relaxing weekend breaks and ideal for groups and families travelling on a low budget.
As camping is seasonal, the campsite will be open from 01 March – 30 December.
